THE SCIENCE

What is
EMF RaDIATION?

EMF radiation stands for Electromagnetic Field Radiation. Electromagnetic Fields are produced by many different sources in our environment, including but not limited to cell phones, laptops, and Wi-Fi routers. Essentially, wherever electricity flows, an electromagnetic field is created.

In limited amounts, these fields are harmless. However, today’s technological world produces EMFs in abnormal quantities, which has been shown to be harmful to human health, especially with prolonged exposure.

HOW DOES EMF
RADIATION AFFECT US?

Electromagnetic Field (EMF)

At the microscopic level of cells and molecules, electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can disturb our bodies’ function. Recent data suggests that EMFs create something called Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in the body, which can damage cells and cause disease.

Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS)

Think of ROS as tiny troublemakers: they are highly reactive molecules that, in excess amounts, can cause damage to our cells and DNA. Increased exposure to EMFs increases the quantity of these little troublemakers in the body, harming our health and well-being.

Cellular Damage

Countless studies have shown that EMF radiation can increase ROS in the body, causing cellular damage and dysfunction. Research has shown that it can damage proteins, alter energy production by mitochondria, produce inflammation, negatively impact the genes we express, and even cause premature cell death.

How Does EMF Radiation Affect My Reproductive Health?

Men’s testicles absorb a lot of radiation. Studies have shown that the radiation from our connected devices can negatively impact sperm’s quality and quantity. Additionally, EMFs can negatively modify hormones and force cells to produce harmful molecules that damage our DNA and sperm. This, of course, is not good for making babies, nor is it good for overall health.

Sperm life cycle

The sperm life cycle, AKA spermatogenesis, is an important part of cell division. Studies have shown halted cell division and sperm life cycle as a result of EMF radiation from our devices. This negatively impacts fertility.

Testosterone

EMF radiation can have a big impact on hormone levels, especially testosterone. Studies have found that it can lower the amount of testosterone in the blood and reduce the production of testosterone overall. In mice, it has been shown to negatively affect testicular development and even make them shrink!

Sperm count

Sperm count is very important when it comes to fertility. Many studies have shown decreases in sperm count from EMF radiation. One remarkable study showed a decrease of sperm count by 40%!

Sperm motility

Sperm motility can also be referred to as sperm’s speed, and speed is crucial when it comes to fertility. We know that poor motility is associated with decreased rates of fertilization. The ability of a sperm to move is important so that it successfully makes its way to a female egg.

Morphology

Morphology refers to sperm shape, and is another important topic in the discussion surrounding fertility. Studies have shown an increase in the amount of misshapen sperm after exposure to EMF radiation. These changes include multiple heads, multiple tails, etc.

Reactive oxygenated species (ROS)

ROS are signaling molecules in the body that are necessary and crucial in normal amounts, but EMF radiation has been shown to dramatically increase its production in the body. In excess amounts, ROS creates damage, inflammation, and disease.

DNA damage

By way of increasing ROS in the body, there is an increase in cellular DNA damage from our devices. Studies have shown EMF Radiation increases DNA damage in cells. Our bodies have the ability to repair DNA damage, but only up to a certain point.

Viability

Also known as vitality, sperm viability refers to the amount of sperm alive in a sample. It is also an important part of fertility, for obvious reasons. Studies have shown a decrease in sperm viability after exposure to EMF radiation.

Lipid peroxidation

The fats that make up sperm membranes are really important for keeping sperm healthy. When these fats get damaged through a process called lipid peroxidation, it can mess up sperm health. Studies suggest that EMF radiation from devices can increase the rate of this damage.

What Are Other Effects Of EMF Radiation On The Body?

EMF radiation doesn’t just affect the reproductive system—it can harm many other parts of the body too. This includes female fertility, the endocrine system (hormones), the immune system, the cardiovascular system (the heart), the central nervous system (the brain), mental health, and even wildlife. It’s a wide-ranging issue that affects many aspects of global health and well-being.
